Just a small article telling tales of a great week on a fantastic lake.

Being novices Carpers we (my 11 year old lad and I) set off in search of paradise and found it, not in a bounty bar, but in 25 acres of liquid gold!…..

This was the second time I had been to CW, but for my lad it was his first, and he certainly came away with memories a plenty!

We started the week on peg 3, and after a couple of fish on the first night, to 26lb, we heeded the advice of resident expert, bailiff and all round superb and top bloke Dylan, we moved to a more productive swim. And by Christ did we do the right thing, or should I say, Keeran did anyway!

He was the star of the week with fish of 24lb 8oz x2, 28lb 12oz and a superb mirror of 29lb 8oz..!… Not too bad for a lad of 11 I think. I could not better that but did manage fish to 26lb and my first ever Sturgeon!. I had 2 of the beasts in the end, to 24lb 2oz and was rightly chuffed to bits!

During the quiet times, we did a spot of float fishing for some of the resident “bits” and had some fun with Tench to over 5lb, Bream to over 5lb, and some superb Rudd to just under 2lb, which, having not caught Rudd to that standard for years, was an aboslute joy!

I cannot express enough our thanks and gratitude to Lee and Karen for a superb week on a superb lake, and of course, it would not be right if I didnt say a HUGE thank you to Dylan (and his dogs) for the way he looked after us out there. His knowledge, advice, help and general assistance was, and is, second to none, and the way he looked after Keeran and held an impromptu “rig clinic” for him, was superb, and above and beyond the call..!!

Overall, a great week was had by all, and we will certainly be looking at going out again…..and will recommend Crystal Waters to everyone.

Many thanks again.
